Why are we here?

May 19, 2006
The age-old question ‘why are we here?’ is something that has been on my mind lately.
Most people would shrug their shoulders and say: "Who cares!" and walk away.  Have they ever stopped to think about why they are living ‘lives of quiet desperation’?  They probably have a whine about never having any ‘luck’ with anything, and go back to watching all the soaps and reading about ‘celebs’!  This is the very reason that they have no ‘luck’…there is NO SUCH THING AS LUCK!  You make your own ‘luck’!
People who seem to be ‘lucky’ in everything they do are always working on what they have and want in life.  They don’t spend their spare time in front of the goggle-box, they spend it reading books about success.  They cultivate ‘positive and uplifting’ friendships.  They don’t bitch about bad experiences, they learn from them and move on.
Life is about learning.  You never stop learning.  If you fail on one ‘lesson’, you get to take it again…and again…and again…until you learn from it and move on to the next one.  As Andrew Matthews says in his book Follow Your Heart, ‘as you get better, the game gets bigger!
So, keep learning, and grow!

I have said many a times that you should create the world around you it the way that you want to be. That is the way in which we express our freedoms. It could be done in the little this or in the big. Little things like, the way you dress, you way you smell, the house you live in, the car you drive, the people you let close to you. Those are things that are in you power to change and create as you see fit – if you do not use that power someone else will. The bigger thing could be your purpose – the problems you see with this world that you can make a choice to solve. It could be an education reform or safer neighbours – whatever you can devote yourself to doing that will leave you feeling accomplished at the end of the day. We get to create that – that is if you choose. It is not about luck or where you are born – live has it\’s funny way of taking you to way it wants you to be, so that you can meet the right people or do the right thing. So yes, I do agree with what Sandi just said. Thank you for listening (I like that catch phrase).
