Jane Austen Week
December 2, 2008
All this week, on ITV3, is a five-part series about The Story Of Costume Drama…this is followed by a Jane Austen film. Last night was Persuasion, starring Rupert Penry-Jones. Tonight, at last, is the Keira Knightly Pride And Prejudice…which I am sure I won’t like…which is followed by Kate Beckinsale’s Emma.
Wednesday night has Mansfield Park, with Billie Piper, which I didn’t find as good as the previous effort.
Thursday has a repeat of Emma…hmmm, are there not enough adaptations to fill just one week…?!! And Friday is Northanger Abbey with Felicity Jones…I don’t know if this is the one I’ve seen, or not…if it is, then I wasn’t too impressed…if not, then it will probably be better! This is followed by Jane Austen – Behind The Scenes…!
I know what I’ll be doing, every night from eight!!!

Its a little deep and serious for us thick people……
Yo Sandi, aaw I wished I had noticed that! Actu the Kate Beckinscale\’s Emma is good! U know wot annoyed me the most, in Sense & Sensibility with Kate Winslet, they missed out a vital(or I thought so!!) point of the book. Where, when it looks like she is dying, Willoughby comes 2 visit her 2 explain himself & her sis won\’t let him see her, but listens 2 his side & eventually tells her when she is recovered! Hope u have a lovely evening! Enjoy! Luv PF XXX
Kayley and Phil…rubbish!! Jane Austen is anything but deep and serious…it\’s funny…her wit and humour are what make her stories and adaptations so popular today!
Hey, PF…but I remember Willoughby explaining himself to Eleanor…maybe it was a scene that was cut? Or maybe it\’s because I\’ve read the book and seen the film…the two are as one, perhaps? I shall re-read the script and check…!
PF is absolutely correct…it\’s not in the script!
