Tuesday Afternoon

July 1, 2009

As is usual on a Tuesday, I met up with Mum and we went for lunch.  I apologised to her, explaining that I wasn’t in a very good mood, though I didn’t know why.  (It could have been a combination of things, from my thyroid, ‘that time of the month’, the situation at work, and the heat, which does not agree with me.)  Sad

Afterwards, we wandered down to the bank, then Mum bought us ice creams, and slowly my mood improved.  She suggested a wander to the Brayford, so I said about walking the shady, or university, side this time.

I like walking along here, as there are Muscovy ducks (Cairina moschata) aplenty, and they are real characters…Aye Up Ducks 006

Further along, there are some concrete tables and seats, that look like bird tables…well, one did have a couple of plump wood pigeons on it!  We sat down under the shade of the trees and enjoyed the scenery.

One of the ducks fixed us with his beady eye, and began to amble towards over with an air of nonchalance that I found highly amusing.  What he did next had us chuckling, too.  He stopped a few yards away, almost posing like a statue…and stood like this for several minutes, not moving a muscle…Poser

Finally, a slight movement of the head, as if to say “Do you think this is my best side?”, then he turned back again…and finally, sure that I’d got what I wanted, settled himself down.  What a poser!!

It was then time for us to leave, so I said goodbye to the dear duck, and off we went for a cuppa before I had to face work, and Mum went home.

Work wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be, as I am keeping my boss and the client informed of ‘Violet Elizabeth Bott’s’ behaviour, from his attitude to his finishing and leaving early, both of which he has been warned about.  As I said in a previous blog…Go ahead, Punk, make my day…!!!

By the time I got home I was feeling better.  I opened the TV mag at the day’s programmes and read the write up for CSI: Miami…the spoil sports had to inform us that David Caruso had signed his conract for the whole season Sarcastic…but I had already thought that H’s death had been staged to flush out the big crooks that were distributing armour-piercing bullets to all the gangs…!

Well, looks like today is going to be anouther one that is Too Hot…Too Hot To Handle…!!! Angry

Stay cool! Hot

Birds are funny creatures….i was driving along this morning (it was a 20mph zone so had time to observe) and ahead a pigeon was walking across the road so naturally i slow down even more…..it hopped on to the kerb, took a couple of strides then tripped on something but stopped itself from falling, then took a couple more steps before turning its head to presumably look at what had caused the mishap….it appeared so much like a human response….and gave me a good laugh! Have a great day Sandi xxx

They are quite big ducks, and I read that they are an aggressive breed…can\’t be right. These ducks look so laid back, that it makes me wonder if they are smoking the weed instead of eating it!There is a colony of them in Cambridge, aparently, where they are classed as a nuisance and are regularly culled by the council.I hope your six inches of shade gets bigger, rather than smaller…depends on what side of the building you are standing.Feeling a bit better today…Robert didn\’t really help matters yesterday, when he phoned me from the pub while I was trying to get ready to go out, asking if I would find his wallet and go to the bank for him. I wasted over ten minutes trying to find the bugger and had to phone back to ask where it was…while at the bank, my bus sailed past, so I was almost late meeting Mum…ggrrrr!!!!

Yes, Mike, pigeons are funny creatures, too. While watching the males strutting their stuff in pursuit of the female, you can almost hear her saying "Oh, go away…leave me alone…tsk…" as she keeps giving him an irritated look.

You lot have it made!!!! I have been out in the blistering heat with no shade except for a little wall that offered some shelter until the sun moved round and then it was gone. We were given umbrellas but they are no good when we are standing at cars trying to interview the driver from the passenger side. OMG any more women drivers flop their tits out when bending over the passenger seat to see me and I shall go mad – only cos I can\’t compete. Course the lads are having a great time!

I got two scratchcards in my break…won twice on one =£2, once on the other =£1. Then looked down and spotted a four leaf clover. Half hour later and I saw another one which I gave to Rosie my workmate. Went to cash in tickets on next break and bought two more. Won £2 on one and £1 on other again! Rosie did not win on hers but maybe that is because I found the four leaf clovers.

I tried going to bed early but flipping fireworks are going off over the road.Hope you have a good time in the beer tent Eileen, going tomorrow aren\’t you, so I suppose we won\’t be hearing from you over the weekend.Sandi it must be a pain in the a**e having to go in and work with that person, not the right way to start the day having to worry about it, no wonder you are a bit stressed.Beautiful in garden, just watered it and it is so cool and lovely outside now bar the noise. Might have to get up early and sit in it listening to the dawn chorus before the blazing sun shows.

I miss the garden that me and Mum built up over the years at Hollywell Road. I used to get up and go and sit outside listening to the dawn chorus, before going back to bed for a few more hours (sigh)I hope those pillocks with their fireworks let you get to bed soon…it\’s when they let the buggers off in the early hours of the morning, and turn the music up that\’s a real pain!!I had someone with me today, as I was showing her what to do in the event of both me and my deputy supervisor being off at the same time. She commented on the filth everywhere, so I called the pillock in to show him,…first thing out of his mouth was an excuse!! He insisted that we were told to only clean desks and things once a month…I corrected him and said that the desks, shelves and cabinets are to be kept clean at all times, then at th end of the month they will be cleared so they can be cleaned properly! He then started arguing that he was never told this, but I trained him, and he was told "If it\’s dusty or dirty…clean it!" It\’s common sense…but, no, he insisted that he was told to clean the desks once a month!! Even though he was present last week when my boss was in and reminded everyone about the desks…to keep them clean, and give them a pper clean when they are cleared. He even had the effrontery to accuse me off not passing the message on and that I was failing in my job!! Excuse me?!!! What planet is he living on, \’cos it sure as heck ain\’t this one!!!! I\’m still chuckling over that one…!!!!!

Seems like it is only a matter of time before you can put the banners out and jump for joy with the VEB, his days are definitely numbered! Just hope his replacement is better suited.Am tired today, think the sun may have got to me a bit yesterday. Hope tomorrow is cooler for work. Been using my asthma inhaler a bit too much and am a bit shaky, it feels weird, like your whole body is trembling fast on the inside.Got to go to my Mums on Sunday to help clean the fish pond. They put no end of preventative measures to make sure the herons do not get the fish but still wondered why the numbers were dwindling. Mum was watching a frog on the net and then it suddenly bolted for her……with a snake hot on its tail! The pond is full of sludge and has a leak so it is in need of some tlc desperately. It is Joshs birthday Sunday so we are combining a BBQ and pond party. Did have to tell him that "NO, you catch the fish with a net, you CANNOT use your fishing rod".Gonna sort Kath out and then have a quiet day today …….I hope!

Activity on ebay unbelievable for those 20 pences. Just watched one go for £720. Lots of cons on there though with claims of no date on queens head side, tail side has got date. It is those with no date at all that are the ones. Bet loads are being filed off!

Ah, easy money for the con-artists, if you like. You know what they say, Anne, about the best laid plans of mice and men…! Hope you get your quiet day, though. My boss has said that we will get Violet Elizabeth Bott on his standard of work, or should I say lack of it, as well as his attitude…she\’s coming in next week to deal with him. Fingers firmly crossed!

After yesterday\’s outburst from the evil-minded little w**ker, I almost phoned my boss and told her to find someone else to put up with this s**t, as I wasn\’t being paid enough! Of course, I didn\’t because that would mean letting him win…and that\’s never going to happen!! As it is, she told me that a letter has been sent to him, informing him that he is being called to a disciplinary meeting on Tuesday…so I\’m keeping my fingers crossed that she will bin him for Gross Misconduct. What, I want to know is what have I ever done to deserve all this crap from him? I have never treated him any different to anyone else! But he has accused me of having a \’bad attitude\’, of treating him like a master treats a slave, and he called me a liar…which is the most upsetting bit of all!! He is a nasty, low-down, evil-minded piece of crap, and the sooner he is gone the better for everyone!!!

Try to chill Sandy, be careful what you say on line should there be any tribunal the things you might have written could be misconstrued in any evidence given, even the fact you have mentioned his race could be intimated to be racialism. It might be as well to review anything that could be misconstrued on here and deleate it just in case it falls into the wrong hands!

He behaved himself today, believe it or not…and they left at the correct time, too….but both the girls left windows open, which I had to close…thus wasting time. But I did see \’em leave! I don\’t need to say any more to him, as he has already blotted his copy book good and proper, but his girlfriend is a good worker, and I don\’t want to see her getting into any kind of trouble because of him….so I will have to have a quiet word on Monday.Duck? What duck…?!!!Like I said…our Muscovies must be smoking the weed instead of eating it, ma-a-a-an…!

I wouldn\’t say anything to her before his hearing on Tuesday, put in a good word to the boss instead about her. She will be more loyal to her boyfriend and be bound to tell him and you don\’t know how he will use what you say, especially if he thinks you know his business before he does and could imply that you have been discussing it or bad mouthing him to others.
