I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Kath enjoy her day at my mums for xmas dinner. She was treated like a queen and I am so proud of my lot accepting her as our own.Not such a bad day after all.Hope all went well for everyone else.
Sea bass, good…goat, go-o-od…what\’s not to like…?!!! Yeah…we ate goat bhuna and fried goat…and it was very nice, not what I was expecting at all. I thought it would be stronger flavoured.
Afternoon Sandi…Sounds like a great alternative to the usual roast…Not sure about the goat? Though Paddy tells me it\’s more like gamey tasting sheep LOL…Pleased you enjoyed it though…snacks and nibbles in this house today…though I may make a few onion bhajis to satisfy Rebecca… xx
Anne, have you tried goat? I have no idea what it\’s like as a roast, but the bhuna was really tasty…not strong at all.Maria, I have no idea what people mean by the description \’gamey\’, but it was certainly a more subtle flavour than I had expected. I don\’t care for lamb at all, but the only way I can describe it is as a cross between beef and lamb…nothing strong or nasty about it at all.In fact there was nothing that I didn\’t like. A brilliant evening!
No roasting going on here, today…Robert did the lamb yesterday morning, so I woke up the pong of that…bleargh! I love the aroma of roast beef, though…makes my mouth water at the thought!Well, lots of photos taken last night, and plenty of cameras being passed around for group pics to be taken, too. Robert has downloaded the photos onto the laptop, and though I took the older camera, it didn\’t want to play, so I didn\’t get to take any…or I would have added them to a blog!
A chicken is roasting in our oven. making Sam drool. Our Christmas dinner will be Monday when we get to my mom\’s house. Four days in Virginia Beach and no snow or ice! YEE HAW! I love it here in the mountains but must get to the ocean on a regular basis to recharge my soul.
Lamb and Beef roast all duly eaten and now feeling replete! I had to cook both as I seem to have overstocked on big joints of meat and thought it would be best cooked and eaten cold over a day or two rather than being chucked out uncooked. No room for pudding though! The snow and ice has all melted away here now, making way for the next cold snap later in the week.RM was that blizzard as bad as predicted?
The Midwest and Great Plains got hammered by the storm, similar to the pounding we took last weekend. Blizzard conditions shut down many airports and Interstate highways. We got sleet and freezing rain, on top of the foot or so of snow still on the ground from last weekend\’s storm. Temperatures rose above freezing around day break and the rain became a steady downpour for most of the day yesterday, washing away the ice and sleet on paved surfaces. The sun is out today and it\’s above freezing again but we still have a lot of snow with more predicted for tomorrow and Monday. We\’re just hoping the highways aren\’t too bad as we\’re headed home to see Mom Monday morning.
I really do hope it is clear enough for you to make a safe journey to your Mums/Moms. I saw the pic of her and she looks like she has the upper hand over the men of the family and stands for no nonsense, bet you are on your best behaviour at her place. She will be glad that Frankie has done her bit and kept you under control. Be sure to thank her from us ( I am sure I speak for us all) for bringing you into the world to bring Spaces alive with your humour and outlook on life!
Aww, shucks, ma\’am :: sheepish smile, lowered head, kicks an imaginary stone::Mom is 86 and healthy as a horse. Since Dad passed I have sort of become the head of the family. Every time we go home my two brothers and one sister still living in Virginia Beach come to me and say "You need to tell Mom to do this or do that. She won\’t listen to me but if you tell her she\’ll do it." Usually it\’s just something they want done and not what Mom wants or needs.Once we get out of the mountains and into the piedmont snow is a lot less likely and the roads are a lot flatter so driving will be easier, even in bad weather, especially since the entire trip will be on major highways. If we have to slow down or even get a motel for the night somewhere along the route, so be it. I won\’t take chances with the family in the truck.
Yes, Anne speaks for all of us…and I\’m sure Eileen, Rachel, Debs, Maria and the others will also agree too…!! Thank you, Chip\’s mom, for giving us such a wonderful friend! You are an inspiration to me, and your words and humour cheer me up when I\’m in need of a lift…BIG, BIG (((HUGS))) for you…!!
Are you sure about that…? I mean…without them…wouldn\’t you just be…er…normal…?!! You know…as in…um…boring old fart…like…kinda thing…?!!! Or is that what you are like , so you have meds to counter the effects of the other meds which mess with your head so you need more meds to…I\’m getting dizzy…!!!
Well, you see what I\’m like without the drugs. When I was still taking them I was nor, nor, nor nor…that word. I can\’t wait to see Avatar but she who holds the check book says I have to wait until after the trip home. I\’ve heard the special effects in this one are the best ever produced. I guess they should be considering this is the most expensive movie ever produced but it\’s a box office smash hit on ths side of the pond.
Everyone wants to go and see Avatar…am I the only one who isn\’t bothered…? The cinema these days is full of people who don\’t give a s**t about others trying to watch the film, while they play with their phones, chat as if they are at home, and are generally irritating and annoying!! I\’m happy to wait until these films come on TV…then it\’s a case of…can I be bothered to sit and watch it…?!!
I rarely go to the theater but I really want to see this one. At least I don\’t have to get up, go outside and have a cigarette, missing the very best part of the entire film anymore. As fo rude people I have 2 words: pea shooter or, on this side of the pond, BB gun.
Merry Christmas Sandi…I hope you and Bob have a lovely day xx
:0) xxx

Leg of lamb and joint of beef is exactly what is roasting away in my oven at this very moment in time!
